About Us

The NCFABA started in 2019 as an informal meeting of fiber arts business owners. Many collaborations and projects grew out of those early meetings. Some members joined together to buy equipment that they could not purchase on their own, while others collaborated on pattern publications. During the pandemic, the group hosted The Bay Area Fiber Festival, an on-line event in which hundreds of local crocheters and knitters took part.

In 2023, some members of the group organized the first Bay Area Yarn Crawl. While planning the event, the group saw the need for an umbrella organization, not only to sponsor events like the Yarn Crawl, but to broadly support and promote local fiber arts businesses throughout the region.
